Maryvale STEAM Students Shine

Maryvale Preparatory School’s Middle School STEAM students brought creativity and community spirit to life through their participation in the Village of Cross Keys’ annual “Snow Globes for Good” contest in November 2025.

As one of 14 local schools selected to compete, students designed and constructed a large snow globe inspired by the 2025 theme, “Gifting Back to Baltimore.” At the center of their creation was a detailed miniature Maryvale castle crafted from mixed materials, blending engineering skill with imaginative design.

Each school designated a nonprofit beneficiary, and Maryvale selected the Women’s Education Alliance (WEA). Their innovative work earned an impressive 3rd place finish, resulting in a $1,000 gift to WEA, presented during a special on-campus check ceremony on January 23rd.

This project highlights the power of hands-on STEAM learning combined with meaningful service, empowering students to make a tangible impact in the community. Maryvale’s work was also featured on WJZ-TV’s Around Town, celebrating the students’ creativity and commitment to giving back to Baltimore.

WEA is honored to have been selected as the nonprofit recipient and applauds these young leaders for their generosity and achievement. Please click here to see the photo album.
